We are a 501(c)3, non-profit, all donations are used directly towards The Texas HOPE Giving Tree and other programs.
Your dependent child(ren) must reside in Northern Brazoria County.
Your dependent child(ren) must be aged 0 or older as of December 20, 2024.
Your school aged dependent child(ren) must be currently enrolled in school, whether that is public, private or homeschooled. Your child(ren) age out of our program once they graduate high school or drop out.
Your dependent child(ren) must not be participating in another Christmas Assistance Program (i.e. Salvation Army, Blue Santa, through the school, etc.).
You must bring required paperwork to one of our in-person events. Event time, dates and locations are available on our website. We do not accept electronic documents under any circumstances.
If your family is sponsored, you will be contacted via email. At that point, your sponsor family will receive your information and further communication will be between you and your sponsor family. If you are not sponsored, you will receive a message no later than December 17th with information on Texas HOPE's gift distribution procedure.
Families are placed on a "Virtual" Giving Tree where we try to get them sponsored. Once chosen by a sponsor, parent/guardians first name, contact information and children's first name(s), age(s), gender(s) and wish list(s) are provided to the sponsor. The sponsor can then reach out to the family to discuss gifts, favorite colors, character, etc. Sponsor and family will set a time and date to deliver wrapped gifts. If parent or sponsor wish to remain anonymous, gift exchange/pickup will happen at our location during our annual Toy Day.
If the family is not chosen for sponsorship, they will be invited via email to "shop" from our Toy Store which includes a large variety of donated and purchased gifts, stockings, stuffers, wrapping paper, etc. Unfortunately, our store is only open 1 day a year and no arrangements will be made for families that can not attend that day. You can send someone in your place, but understand they will be "shopping" for your child, not picking up pre-selected gifts unless prior arrangements have been made.
To apply for assistance, use the "apply here" button above to be redirected to our application. Please be sure your email address and phone number are kept up-to-date in order to receive information on family adoption or gift distribution. For any personal information changes, please send an email to: help@mytexashope.com In the subject line, please include your name.

Can I email my documents?
No, we do not accept electronic documents at this time. You or a representative for your behalf must attend one of our in person registration events with all required documentation in order to be added to the Giving Tree and be eligible for sponsorship.
Can I use anything instead of a Birth Certificate?
The document must show the child's name and parent or guardian's name. This can include Birth Facts from the hospital, a Court Document showing custody or guardianship, Food Stamp Award letter, etc. Social Security Cards are not accepted.
I listed the wrong size or want to update my child's Wish List.
Due to the high number of applicants, we can not update individual Wish Lists. Should your child get sponsored, you can let your sponsor know of the changes.
Can I get help if I do not live in Brazoria County?
No, we limit the number of children we are able to assist by creating boundaries. Please check with your local district for resources available to you.
My child is homeschooled or not old enough to go to school. Can they still register?
Yes! You can register your child, even if they are homeschooled or too young to be enrolled as long as you live in Northern Brazoria County (Alvin, Manvel, Pearland, Liverpool, etc).
My child goes to college, but still lives at home. Can I still sign them up?
No, children age out of the program when they graduate or drop out of high school.
Why did my family not get sponsored?
While we try to get every child sponsored, it is just not possible. Things you can do to better your chances of getting help are:
What happens if we do not get sponsored?
Parents/Guardians of children not sponsored will be invited to a private event where they can "shop" at our Toy Store for their child(ren) at no cost. In addition to their gifts, parents will also receive stockings, stocking stuffers, wrapping paper, gift tags and tape. Gifts at this event are based on donations made to the organization and not individual Wish Lists.
Want to Sponsor a local child for the Holidays? Would you like to help make Christmas special for children/teens in need?
We want every child to wake up Christmas morning with gifts under the tree. We help kids 0 and up (through high school graduation) We believe that EVERY child, EVEN TEENS, should have gifts to open on Christmas.
Many children and families are in need of a little extra help this holiday season. Making ends meet day to day is a struggle, leaving very little resources for gifts for the holidays. In this time of great need, we look to our community to help us fill these gaps.
LET’S MAKE THEIR CHRISTMAS MAGICAL!
Please remember when you are sponsoring a child/teen most often your gifts are the only gifts they are receiving under the Christmas tree. We understand this may not be financially possible for everyone so please feel free to donate an unwrapped gift or purchase an item off our Amazon Wishlist. We use donations to set up a Store for parents/guardians to "shop" at no cost for children that do not get sponsored.
Although not always a financial possibility for everyone, we prefer to sponsor all the kids as a whole instead of piecing children to several sponsors. One child may receive 2 small gifts, while other siblings receive more. This leads children to feel they were bad or did something wrong to receive less. Large families work well with group or business sponsors, so ask your boss, church or a group of friends to join you!
What makes our Giving Tree Sponsor Outreach SPECIAL is that YOU get the opportunity to pick the child/family of your choice AND meet them! You may have sponsored through other programs, where when you're done shopping you drop off your gifts and never know if they will make it to the intended child. Or if they liked it. Or if it was appreciated. When you sponsor a Giving Tree Kid, we give you the parent/guardian's contact info, so that you can ask for specifics to help you shop. They want hot wheels. Cars or Trucks? Do they already have this one? What type of clothing does that teen want? Pink? Hot Topic? Something in between? Reach out to your family early. It takes a lot of pride swallowing to ask for help. They are very anxious their child will get lost or forgotten. A quick introduction of "Hi, I am sponsoring your kids this Christmas" goes a lot way to calm that anxiety.
If meeting the family is not your thing, no worries! We will let the parent know they were chosen. You can drop the gifts off to us and we will give them to the family. Anonymous sponsor gifts need to be in our hand by Dec. 13th for pickup the Saturday prior to Christmas.
How does sponsoring a family work?
Look through the available families below. If you find a family that meets your requirements and touches your heart, please send us an email with the family number to help@mytexashope.com Unless you request to remain anonymous, we will provide you contact info for the parent/guardian that registered the child/ren. Although we try to let everyone to let them know they have been sponsored, please reach out to your family ASAP. (Such as favorite color, brand/style of clothes the kids prefer, kids' names, etc.) This helps reduce the family returning anything. You are welcome to mark or remove the barcodes on gifts you are giving the family as well.
A lot of sponsors purchase the parents something, but it is completely optional and not something we ask of you.
Should I wrap my gifts?
Gifts should be wrapped and gift labeled for the kids. We will provide you first name of each child. When you reach out to the parent/guardian, you can ask if the child goes by something other than their legal name to write on the package.
What if my family doesn't respond?
We use email for all communication, so try that route first. You can text or call if you do not get any follow-up. Please let us know if you have not heard from your family within 3 days. Although it is rare, we have only had a family or 2 never respond in the 8 years we've done this. We can help you pick another family to sponsor ASAP.
Can I sponsor more than 1 family?
Absolutely! You can sponsor as many as you feel comfortable!
What happens to the children not sponsored?
Families that are not sponsored will still receive gifts. We set up a "Toy Wonderland" where they come "shop" Parents are given a time slot to allow them privacy and space to pick out gifts, stocking stuffers and other items for the children.
Can my business sponsor a family?
Yes! Every year we have groups, churches and businesses sponsor one or many families. This works well for some of our larger families. They tend to be unrealistic for private sponsors.
What if I change my mind?
It happens! Finances change. Things come up. Please email ASAP so that we can try to get the family back available for sponsorship or an invitation to the Toy Store.
What if I don't find a family I like or can financially support?
We upload families at each event and also collect toys/gift items as well. Check out our event page for a list of registration dates.
When do families come available?
October 28th is our first event. We try to get parents to register early, but most sign ups occur the first week of December.
